Once upon a time I would have welcomed a Wheel of Time MMORPG game. In fact, back in 1999 GT Interactive released a rather well received Wheel of Time FPS game built on the Unreal Engine. It didn’t fly off the shelves, yet it was held with critical acclaim and for the most part held true to the books.

Wheel of Time

Red Eagle’s name would ring a bell with WoTers based on their recent graphic novels, and while they’ve been successful you have to question their reasons for making such an ambitious leap into gaming. The jump into the struggling MMORPG space is not a trivial one to say the least. MMORPG’s are no longer new in this day and age. The market is being flooded with more and more watered down and bankrupt ideas. Volumes of lore and a rabid fan base will not succeed when coupled with mediocre game play. If you’ve played Age of Conan you know what I mean!

On the plus side, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time provides ample material to create a rich and lush MMORPG storyline. One would argue that only Tolkien and George R. R. Martin have developed better modern fantasy.

His books bring elements of fantasy that could transition well into unique game play mechanics. Imagine the ability to shift between Ajahs after becoming an Aes Sedai, becoming the hunted or the hunter. The One Power wielded by a combination of keystrokes in more engaging ways than in the tradition MMORPG fashion. The possibilities are tremendous.

Let us hope they are successful in this ambitious endeavor.

Back by popular demand, I’ve uploaded my now infamous AoC Wagon Rider spoof to Flickr. I’m genuinely surprised that my thread is still over on the AoC forums, and even moreso that other people blogged about this thinking it was real.

Free Candy

Well I might as well have fun with it until I receive that cease and desist order from Funcom.

TechCrunch is featuring a startup that offers to replicate your face in an eery 3D sculplture. The company is called That’s My Face and it’s putting a creative spin on new 3D printing technology. Personally, I don’t have $2,000.00 to spend on a life like reproduction of my head, so I’m hoping that my comment will help me win a freebie!

thats my face

I’m not exactly sure what I’d do with it, perhaps order the half scale model and have a killer shrunken head Halloween costume next year?

Last month I predicted GOOG would fall below 300 within a week, but it seems as if I was a bit premature to pull the trigger. GOOG actually kept it’s head above water much longer than I expected, however this week we’re seeing the downward trend take shape.

I still stand by 200 at year’s end.

Let’s hope I’m wrong!
